Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that’s related to season changes. It can affect anyone however it is more common in Women 15 to 55 years of age. The risk of getting a first diagnosis of SAD will decrease as you age. SAD can also carry the name of Winter Depression or Seasonal Depression.

Every so often many people report that they have the “Holiday Blues.” Now, I am not 100% sure what that means. I know people can feel unhappy for not seeing family, or maybe going through some tough times during this part of the year. It appears as if this is specifically directed to the holidays.
A couple winters ago, it was time for Nonno (“grandfather” in Italian) to have his back surgery. So we took him for the procedure; unfortunately, the surgery did not go as well as planned, and Nonno suffered a malicious spinal cord injury. Now paralyzed from the waist down, Nonno had to adjust and transition into the wheelchair life.

I was asked to write a blog about raising a child with a disability from a Dad’s perspective. At first I thought this would be a great topic. But then I was like, “what the heck is a blog”? So, after discussing what a “ blog” is, I am like, I can do this because a blog is just like talking to someone, but in written form versus spoken. I can do that because I sell for a living and can talk forever, the hard part is to make it worthy of reading. I hope you like my perspective/story.
