Changes Large or Small

As the ancient Chinese poet and philosopher Lao Tzu stated, “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” Healthy for the Holidays seems to be the mantra this time of year.   We are what we eat, echoes in our ears as the holiday parties roll around. One day we hear certain drinks and foods are good for us then the next it’s not. Confusion sets in on what is right. We are trying to manage a balance between work, friends and family. Next thing you know you are spinning out of control. Time spent with family and friends can be priceless.

However, what can a major expense are the costs that it can do to your health and lifestyle. It is so easy when we get away from our everyday hustle and bustle to fall into habits and behavior that we typically would not do if it was not this time of year. So, as this holiday season begins and our schedule becomes filled with time and food remember that it can be small subtle actions that can help make a big difference.

Make a change during this season; don’t wait until the New Year arrives. Stop, take a deep breath and move in the direction of your reality. You may be one who is always motivated to keep the course of eating healthy and exercising. Great job, keep it up and stay encouraged. For those just beginning for the New Year, “Way to Go” you can do this. Once you are past the first couple of weeks pay attention to your body. It will begin to talk to you. You will see changes. Each body type is different and will see changes differently, maybe in the muscle with soreness or fatigue, endurance and stamina.

Find what motivates you, stay encouraged and keep it up. If you are among those who have no idea what to do or where to begin and want a change, here are some simple things to start with.

~ Do something fun and make sure laughter is involved.

~ Walk or Roll for thirty minutes either on land or in the pool.

~ Be still and/or quite for 10 minutes a day with deep breathes.

~ Have a therapeutic massage on land or in the pool. Life changes, large or small start with forward movement. Move on and be well this season. Do you plan to be active during the holiday season?
