Today is my 27th birthday! I’m very thankful today to have nothing on my calendar until after lunch and leftover birthday cookie from my small group meeting last night to eat for breakfast
On that note…for those of you who have been following me, you know that I have been trying to meet my health goals by my birthday. My goals were to decrease my weight and improve my body composition so I can kick off this year right in the middle of the “healthy” zone for BMI and body composition. I am very happy to say that I am very near my goal and transitioning into a maintenance phase. As of Tuesday I am 138 pounds (don’t ask me why I remember this, but that is exactly how much I weighed when I graduated high school), with a BMI of 25 and body composition (DXA, for those inquiring minds) of 27%. I’m happy to see my numbers in a good zone and not so close to the edge (or just over) into unhealthy territory. I’ve dropped a pant size (which means I’m going shopping!) and I feel healthy and happy with the way I look.
The past year was a challenge. I had surgery for endometriosis, a wicked case of tendinitis in my knee, continued work on my low-back issues and one nasty ingrown toenail….but as I kick off a new year I count myself very lucky to have my health. I am up to 20 miles per week running and have put back on some muscle through resistance training. I feel strong, lean and flexible, ready to tackle the world
Thanks to all of you for following me and the other NCHPAD bloggers as we all endeavor to improve health and wellness for people of all abilities around the world. I’m looking forward to another year of work with NCHPAD and the Lakeshore Foundation and I am so thankful to have the opportunity.
Cheers!
