Heart disease is a wide term that includes any type of disorder related to heart and that affects the heart. It is an umbrella term which means same as cardiac disease but not cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease relates with the disorder of heart, blood vessels (that includes arteries, veins and capillaries) or both, while heart disease relates with just the heart.
As per the research carried out by World Health Organization (WHO), it was found that heart disease is the leading cause of death in USA, UK, Australia as well as Canada. There is no issue in saying that nowadays most of the people are dying due to various types heart diseases all around the world. According to a statistics, around 25.4% of all deaths in USA are caused by heart disease. To reduce the death rate caused due to heart disease, first of all we need to decode the symptoms at proper time so as to cure it immediately before it gets too serious. Main causes of heart disease includes following:
- Congenital heart defects:
Those heart defects with which you are born with are termed as congenital heart defects. These defects are caused right from your birth and affects working of your heart. Some of the congenital heart defects include:

It means hole between two chambers of the heart.
- Obstruction defects:
It means flow of blood through various chambers of heart is partially or totally blocked.
- Cyanotic heart disease:
It means not enough oxygen is being pumped around the body due to some defects in the heart.
Coronary artery disease:
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is popularly known as atherosclerotic heart disease, ischemic heart disease (IHD) or coronary heart disease in medical terms. It is one of the most common types of heart disease which leads to heart attacks. CAD is caused by plaque building (increase of cholesterol) along the inner walls of the arteries of the heart which results in narrowing the arteries and reduction of blood flow to the heart.
- High blood pressure:
High blood pressure commonly termed as hypertension is a chronic medical condition in which blood pressure in the arteries is elevated. In high blood pressure, the heart is pressurized to work harder than normal and circulate the blood through blood vessels.
- Diabetes:
Diabetes is a type of metabolic disease in which a person has high blood sugar. This is caused either because pancreas does not produce enough insulin as required by the body or because cells do not respond to the insulin produced in the body. This affects heart in pumping blood and results into heart disease.
Smoking leads to blockage of heart by inhaling of tasting tobacco fumes. Traces of tobacco affect heart and leads to blockage of arteries and capillaries.
- Excessive use of alcohol or caffeine:
Intake of alcohol in wider range elevates the risk of heart disease by causing heart failure which can lead to death. Similarly caffeine is also harmful as it affects the working of heart and blocks hear walls.
Similar way, drug abuse, stress as well as some valvular heart disease cause severe affect to heart that leads to different kind of serious heart disease that can lead to death. To reduce the effect of heart disease some types of medications, dietary supplements as well as some herbal medicines are used to overcome from it.
These symptoms when timely detected can help to reduce its effects and can be cured before time. They can be treated by various treatments which involves some changes in physical activities along with required medical treatment. These include change in person’s lifestyle as well as doing medications. Different medical procedures and surgeries helps to give rid from serious heart disease and overcome from it. Taking medicinal treatments such as Blond Psyllium, Flaxseed, Coenzyme Q10, Omega-3 fatty acids, Oats and oat bran, Plant stanols and sterols, such as beta-sitosterol and sitostanol also helps to reduce various heart diseases and helps for treating those disease.
