Aaron ‘Wheelz’ Fotheringham was born with Spina Bifida, but that certainly didn’t slow him down. Wheelz has done more adrenaline-junky maneuvers before age 20 than most of us will in a lifetime. The 19-year-old daredevil says his motto is, “If God gives you a wheelchair, go find a skatepark.”
Wheelz was adopted into a home with five other kids with whom he played by doing things his way. When he was eight, he visited a skatepark in his hometown of Las Vegas and said, “Hey, I can do that!” And he surely can, becoming an expert in extreme sports. He trained for years in skateparks and earned titles at BMX freestyle competitions for his wheelchair stunts which include backflips.
ABC described his attitude as, “His spirit used the chair to soar.”
Lenny Ignelzi / AP captured this image of Aaron Fotheringham showing off his amazing backflipping skills after flying down a huge steep 50-foot “giganta ramp”.
Currently Wheelz travels the world and performs as a daring “professional wheelchair stuntman” for Nitro Circus.
