The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) celebrated their 20th anniversary this past July. In addition, the ADA set a New Guinness World Record for the most wheelchairs in a moving line, a total of 193 wheelchairs.

The special event took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 25.  A joint collaboration by the Los Angeles wheelchair community, and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation made the event and new record possibly. The milestone created a wonderful opportunity for the disability community and others to come together for the celebration.

According to Sam Maddox of the Reeve Foundation, the event was a tremendous success. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The idea was to mark the ADA anniversary, but also to share a day of food, fun and prizes, to build community and make new friends. People had a blast. It was a colorful and lively crowd, including a lot of young kids in wheelchairs, from across California,” he said. “We had the support of dozens of community partners, including the Abilities Expo, and from advocacy groups, nonprofits, rehabs and industry.”
